This weeks Monday Challenge is a ‘Trio of Something’. What’s cuter than a Trio of monsters, right? Also, I need an Anniversary card for my husband, and these little guys will be just the thing. No mushy sentiments here.
The second picture is of the little guy waiting to wish my husband Happy Anniversary on the inside of the card.
Started by copic coloring the monsters from the My Favorite Things ‘Monster Sized’ stamp set. Cut them out with my Scan ‘n Cut. Created the frame using Lawn Fawn’s ‘Peakaboo Background’ dies set. Of course, I used Distress Oxide Ink to color the background. And the LOVE was created with Hero Arts ‘Luggage Tag Alphabet’ Dies.
I had a blast making Easter cards this year. Started with the fantastic Oval of Flowers stencil from Simon Says Stamp. Added Nuvo Embellishment Mousse thru it. Once dry, I cut the eggs out with the MFT oval Die-Namics dies. I will confess that I need more practice with the mousse. There were a few eggs that didn’t come out exactly as I liked, so I hid my less than perfect parts under sentiments, flowers or butterflies. I think having to decide what I was going to do about those “mistakes” helped make these card better. I was not about to start again, so I had to get creative. Once I decided how to embellish over those areas, the card really came together. Mounted everything on top of Lawn Fawn specialty paper and they were done.
Stencil: Simon Says Stamp ‘Oval of Flowers’ stencil
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp ‘Some Bunny’ and My Favorite Things ‘Beautiful Day’
Paste: Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Pacific Teal and Cornflower Blue, Glitter Paste
Distress Oxide Ink: Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick
Specialty Paper: Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Spring
I watch LOTS of YouTube videos and saw a video by someone….can’t remember who (so sorry!) and realized that I owned all the supplies to make the card she showed, so I decided to give it a try. The stamp and dies are from Lawn Fawn and the background paper was leftover from one for the Simon Says Stamp monthly kits. Pulled out an assortment of rainbow colored card stock, white heat embossed the little pineapples and was all set to go. I even got fancy and cut out two of the aloha die cuts and glued them, one on top of the other, to give it a little more dimension. When I mounted the pineapples, I added foam tape behind the yellow one in the middle to give the card a focal point. Cut out the background paper with the Wonky Rectangles from Simon Says Stamp. Super fun and EASY to make. Loved that it was a coloring free card!
