United We Flourish Card

These sweet little birdies from ‘United We Flourish’ stamp set by Hero Art for Ellen Hutson makes the cutest birthday card.  I started by  creating a rainbow background with Distress Oxide inks.  Copic colored the birds.  Then used the new YAY die from My Favorite Things to create the sentiment for this card.  Super fun and easy to do.

This weeks challenge was to create a card using patterned paper.  What a fun idea.  I hardly ever use patterned paper, yet I have a bunch of it.  So started by adding some Distress Oxide ink to a panel, cut it out with the SSS Wonky rectangle die and then used the Essentials by Ellen Hinged alphabet dies.  The patterned paper is behind letters.  I know it doesn’t show up very well in the photo, but trust me, it’s back there.

This weeks challenge was A Walk on the Dark Side.   Used one of the dogs from Crazy Dogs by Tim Holtz and the hat is from Simon Says Stamp.  Lots of Distress Ink to create the background…. and whala.    The funny thing about this card…..  try as I might, I just can’t decide what sentiment to add to the front.  So, I’m leaving it off until inspiration strikes.

This weeks challenge is “Distress it”.  I took it pretty literally and used Tim Holtz’ Distress Oxide inks to color the flowers in the new Concord & 9th Aloha fill-in patterned paper.  It couldn’t have been easier!  I love the results and how customizable each paper is.  I adore anything that has a Hawaiian theme, so this latest release from Concord & 9th is right up my alley!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge 7.3.17

Red steamer boat, blue wave background, on white card with embosses waves

This weeks Monday challenge is Red, White, and Blue.

Using a Darice embossing folder to create the cute little waves on both the blue background and the white cardstock.   I used Broken China and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks to color the blue background.  The stamps are ones that I picked up from a stamp store that was going out of business years ago.  They don’t have a name or anything on them, so I’m not able to give create to their creator.  A couple of sequins and I’m finished.  I mounted the panel on to white card stock that I colored with Broken China so that it would match.

Happy 4th!

This weeks challenge is ‘Stencil It’.  Fun!!

I started out using the Radiating Rays stencil from My Favorite Things.  I used Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink for both layers.   First coat was thru the stencil and I laid the color down pretty heavy and then removed the stencil and went over the whole thing with a lighter coat of the same color.  Then I added some water droplets and … wah lah!

The giraffe is from the Wild Cuddly Critters by Simon Says Stamp.  I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White 80 lb card stock.  I then colored it with my Copic markers (I’d tell you which colors, but I didn’t keep track) and then fussy  cut it out.  Mounted to black card stock and embossed the sentiment. The sentiment came from the Avery Elle Simply Said:Amazing stamp set.

I had so much fun making this card, I went nuts and made a second, slightly different one.

This time my stencil is from Honey Bee Stamps.  I created the rainbow background using Distress Oxide inks.  My rainbow colors are; Wilted Violet, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, and last, but not least, Worn Lipstick.  Again I laid down a pretty heavy first coat thru the stencil and then went over it lightly once I removed the stencil to cover up the white areas.

I then cut my panel out with Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangles die.  Also used the smallest die to cut out my little blue panel that I mounted the giraffe on.  Embossed my sentiment on black, cut my fish tail, and called it a day.
