Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge 04.02.2018

This weeks Monday Challenge is a ‘Trio of Something’.  What’s cuter than a Trio of monsters, right?  Also, I need an Anniversary card for my husband, and these little guys will be just the thing.  No mushy sentiments here.

The second picture is of the little guy waiting to wish my husband Happy Anniversary on the inside of the card.

Started by copic coloring the monsters from the My Favorite Things ‘Monster Sized’ stamp set.  Cut them out with my Scan ‘n Cut.  Created the frame using Lawn Fawn’s ‘Peakaboo Background’ dies set.  Of course, I used Distress Oxide Ink to color the background.  And the LOVE was created with Hero Arts ‘Luggage Tag Alphabet’ Dies.

Easter Cards

I had a blast making Easter cards this year.  Started with the fantastic Oval of Flowers stencil from Simon Says Stamp.  Added Nuvo Embellishment Mousse thru it.  Once dry,  I cut the eggs out with the MFT oval Die-Namics dies.  I will confess that I need more practice with the mousse.   There were a few eggs that didn’t come out exactly as I liked, so I hid my less than perfect parts under sentiments, flowers or butterflies.  I think having to decide what I was going to do about those “mistakes” helped make these card better.  I was not about to start again, so I had to get creative.  Once I decided how to embellish over those areas, the card really came together.   Mounted everything on top of Lawn Fawn specialty paper and they were done.

Supplies:

Stencil: Simon Says Stamp ‘Oval of Flowers’ stencil

Stamps: Simon Says Stamp ‘Some Bunny’ and My Favorite Things ‘Beautiful Day’

Paste: Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Pacific Teal and Cornflower Blue, Glitter Paste

Distress Oxide Ink: Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick

Specialty Paper: Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Spring

Happy Thoughts

I was checking out this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge #483.  The colors were green, coral and kraft.  The new kit from Simon Says Stamp for February had some adorable images that I thought would pair up perfectly with this challenge.  I started by ink blending some Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink on a circle die cut.  Stamped and colored the boots from the SSS kit.  Back it with one of the patterned papers from the kit and mounted the whole thing on a kraft card base.  #ctd483 #colorthrowdown

Wonderful Day

Have a Wonderful Day

Did some ink blending with Distress Oxide Inks on Neenah Solar White Card Stock.  White heat embossed the flowers on each corner, and then went in with some water on a few of the flowers and “painted” them with water to oxidize a few of them to give them a bit of dimension.  Cut out the panel with my Wonky stitched rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp and popped it up on a white card base.  Added some Nuvo glitter drops to give it a little sparkle and it’s all done.

YAY cards

Using Distress Oxiode inks in complementary rainbow colors, I created a background panel.  Since I was only using that panel to back the YAY die cut from My Favorite Things, I was able to get two cards out of the one panel.  I also colored the hummingbirds from the new Pretty Pink Posh stamp set with my Zig clean color real brush markers.  With the leftover bits from my background panel I cut out the confetti and added it to the front of my card.  Attached the panel to a pre-made card base and it was finished.  I’ve left room to add a sentiment, but since this card would be great for birthday, congratulations, or just thinking of you, I left the sentiment off so I could add that when I know what occasion I need to grab a card for.
